Section 01

League rules — boys & girls

Suspension wording conflicts with another published section. See the review note above before relying on it.

1. Teams will have a 10-15 minute warmup before games.

2. Coaches are asked to please inform players of the following important issues:

- These facilities are expensive and all players are to treat the facilities with respect.

- All teams are asked to make sure all player place garbage and recyclables in the appropriate containers. There should be no garbage left at the end of thegame!! Tape, pro-wrap, etc. should be placed in the appropriate containers.

3. Every team is permitted to dress 20 players.

4. We are continuing with the three yellow cards – before missing the next game rule. In addition to this, the fourth card means sitting two games, and each additional card adds an additional game. With a Red card you sit out the next two games automatically and maybe more depending on the offence. Co-ordinators will notify coaches how many games the player receives.

5. Card accumulated during the season are not carried over to play-offs. However, suspensions obtained during the season are.

Section 02

2024 boys league format & rules

1. League Format:

A. Format is 16 teams for boys playing a 2 tier system. 8 teams in Tier 1 and 8 teams in Tier 2 divided into two groups. Each team plays the teams in their group once.

B. 7 games per team in Tier 1 and Tier 2 with 3 or 4 home games and 3 or 4 away games. 3 points for a win and 1 point for a tie.

C. In case of a tie:

1. Head to head scores (games between tied teams).

2. Goal Ratio: number of goals for divided by number of goals against. (Only a max. of 5 goals will be recorded per game).

3. Cards (team with the least amount of cards moves on.

4. Coin toss.

D. All 11 Div.1 teams make the boys play-offs. . Top 2 get a bye to semi- finals.10 th place team plays 11 th place team for the final spot in the round of 10. Then next round 3 vs. 10, 4 vs. 9, 5vs. 8, 6 vs. 7.

E. Winners advance and will be seeded again. 2 Winners advance to semi- finals. Lowest seed plays 1 st place team. 2 nd place plays the higher advancing seed. Championship game played between the 2 winners to determine the Metro and Regional champions. The top 4 teams will advance to a Provincial qualifier. Winner of the qualifiers move on to Provincials.

2. Responsibilities of the Home team:

A. Provide game sheet (some will be given out at the coaches meeting).

B. Provide 2 quality game balls.

C. Referee fees will be paid up front so there will be no paying refs at the field.

D. In case of a tie the home team reports the score to the coordinator and the paper within 24 hours. The Chronicle phone number is 426-2812.

3. Responsibilities of the winning team:

A. Report score to the Chronicle Herald. There is a new website to input score as well.

B. Email the game results to the league co-ordinator within 24 hours of the game. Make sure you include the keepers shut outs and who scored for both teams. Also include any cards indicated on the game sheet. It is the COACHES responsibility to keep track of their team’s cards.

E. Fax or picture via email, the game sheet the next morning to the co- ordinators.

4. Responsibilities of the away team:

A. In case of conflicting jersey colors, the away team will change their uniforms or wear pinnies. Make sure you have a set of 11 of the same color.

5. Rescheduling games:

A. Due to the complexity and short duration of the schedule - it is very difficult to entertain individual team requests once the season has started. Therefore, it is up to the individual teams to try to work out solutions to game conflicts. Your first responsibility is to the league schedule!!

B. If it absolutely necessary for a game to be rescheduled the team cancelling the game must first get approval from opposing coach, and establish an agreeable time to play the game. If you cannot agree on a game time you must contact to co-ordinator.

C. The team cancelling the game is responsible for: immediately contacting the co-ordinator about the schedule change, the coordinator then is responsible for cancelling the field booking (you may still be billed for the field time!), rescheduling the referees for the new game. If a game is not completed the team that initiated the cancellation shall forfeit the game. The game will be recorded as a 5-0 for the opponent. In that event that a team does not show up for a game the same will take place.

D. All boys games must be completed by October 11, 2024 *** Any team that forfeits a game, or is unable to make up any of the league scheduled games before the above dates for round robin play, may forfeit their right to go to playoffs. This is to protect the league schedule and to prevent teams from deciding not to play scheduled games.

6. Play-offs:

A. All 11 Div.1 teams make the boys play-offs. . Top 2 get a bye to semi- finals.10 th place team plays 11 th place team for the final spot in the round of 10. Then next round 3 vs. 10, 4 vs. 9, 5vs. 8, 6 vs. 7.

B. Winners advance and will be seeded again. 2 Winners advance to semi- finals. Lowest seed plays 1 st place team. 2 nd place plays the higher advancing seed. Championship game played between the 2 winners to determine the Metro and Regional champions. The top 4 teams will advance to a Provincial qualifier. Regional winner hosts a Provincial Qualifier. Winner of the qualifiers move on to Provincials

C. . They start Monday, October 14, 2023. The 10th place team and 11th place team play. Winner advances to the 10 play-off. The top 10 start Tuesday October 15 th , 2024. The top 2 seeds get a bye to semi-finals. The number 3 seed plays number 10 seed, number 4 seed plays number 9 seed, number 5 seed plays number 8 seed, and number 6 seed plays number 7 seed. Winners advance and will be seeded again. They will play Wednesday, October 16th, 2024. Winners advance to Semi-finals. They are Friday, October 18th and finals are Saturday, October 19st, 2024. Regional winner will host a provincial qualifier and the remaining three will travel to a qualifier.

Section 04

Red cards

Suspension wording conflicts with another published section. See the review note above before relying on it.

When a red card is given there is a minimum of a one game suspension. Depending on why the card was given the suspension may be extended. The reasons for a suspension being extended are outlined by the School Sport Nova Scotia (SSNS)  Disciplinary Guidelines and can be found here:

Section 05

Yellow cards

If a player receives 3 yellow cards over the course of the season they are suspended for the next game immediately following the third yellow card. For each yellow card the player recieves after this one game will be added to the suspension. For example, if a player receives a 4th yellow card they will need to sit out the next two games immediately following the 4th yellow card.  Card point totals will be reset for playoffs , all suspensions received before playoffs must be served in full before the player can return to play
